Autosalon

AutoSalon is een driedaags cultureel festival waar de haat-liefdeverhouding tussen mens en auto belicht wordt. Een festival met beeldende kunst, muziek, theater, dans en film.

De noodzaak om na te denken over CO2-uitstoot is actueler dan ooit. De fossiele brandstoffen raken in rap tempo op en de auto-industrie maakt zware tijden door. Een auto geeft je status en vrijheid, maar je staat wel in de file. De auto is, naast je huis, je privédomein in de grote publieke ruimte. Je bent baas in eigen auto. In een auto ben je autonoom.

De Autosalon komt in deze context als een pas op de plaats, drie dagen in parkeerstand. Het nieuwe auto-hart van de Tilburgse binnenstad, de Pieter Vreedeplein-parkeergarage, wordt het centrum van een culturele parkeerdriedaagse. Drie dagen waarin verschillende makers hun licht schijnen op het begrip auto en hun haat-liefdeverhouding bevragen en benoemen.

Cultural Parking Fest

AutoSalon is a cultural three-day festival that puts the hate-love understanding between human being and car in the spotlights. A festival with fine arts, music, theatre, dance and film. 

CO2 emission is a topical subject nowadays. The fossil fuels run out and the car-industry experiences rough times. A car gives you status and freedom but also puts you in traffic-jams. A car is, besides your house, your property in the public space. You’re boss in your own car. In a car you’re autonomous.

The AutoSalon puts things on hold, three days in neutral. The new central car-heart of Tilburg, the Pieter Vreedeplein parking lot, is the centre of the cultural parking fest. Three days in which different artists provide their view on the car and its hate-love understanding with human beings.
